CPD Monitoring

Every year a random selection of members' CPD records are monitored to ensure that our standards are maintained.

As detailed in Part I, 13-18 of the royal charter, byelaws and regulations all CIMA members and CGMA designation holders are required to undertake CPD and keep a record of their development activities.  Only those notified by email or post need to submit their records for monitoring.

Have I been selected for CPD monitoring?

Whilst all CIMA members need to keep their CPD record up to date, you don't need to submit your CPD record for monitoring until formally requested to do so by our CPD monitoring team.

If you are selected for monitoring, you will be notified via email and by post.

How do I submit my CPD?

Use the My Learning section of the Competency and Learning website to record and submit your CPD. Unless you work for an accredited employer, no other format will be accepted.

If you haven’t started using it yet, please familiarise yourself with the My Learning section of the website and start using it to record your CPD now.

For further information download our guide to using the Competency and Learning website.

What should my CPD record include?

Activities that are relevant to your daily role and continued career development can be included in your CPD record.

You don’t need to have completed all activities for them to count. Please include in your record development activities identified, underway and completed over the monitoring period.

How many years' worth of records should I submit?

If selected, you will be required to submit your CPD record reflecting learning activities for the last 12 months.

How will you assess my CPD record?

Your learning and development activities for the last 12 months will be assessed against the six steps of the CIMA Professional Development cycle.

If using the Competency and Learning website (and complete all fields) you will cover all six steps of the cycle.

Members who fail to comply may be subject to disciplinary proceedings as set out in the CPD regulations  Part I, 13- 18.
