The charter grants CIMA's powers and sets out the institute’s objectives.
The byelaws provide for the operational framework and the regulations may make provision in respect of any matter related to the affairs of the Institute and its members and registered students.
CIMA's regulatory framework underpins the professional standing of its members and students through regulation, monitoring and where necessary disciplinary procedures. It ensures members are competent, trusted and working within the public interest.
This current version of the Royal Charter, Byelaws and Regulations came into effect on 12 March 2022.
Revisions to CIMA’s charter and byelaws, which must be approved by members at a general meeting, require assent from the Privy Council. Amendments to the regulations may be made by resolution of the council, barring some exceptions as set out in byelaw 32.
